Change of ideas.

I changed my mind about the pond as it would take another 2 weeks to arrive and I wanted to get the juvenile's moved into the pond and out of my lounge sooner rather than later.

So last night I cancelled the 380 liter pond liner that I had bought and bought a Hozelock Ltd Hozelock Outdoor Aquarium, Black from here. This is a purpose made 500+ litre pond that will hold all of my axolotls easily even when they are fully grown.

I am planning to build the pond as soon as it arrives and then move all of the babies into the pond except the 4 smallest ones who will move into a bigger tank and be moved into my bedroom for now. So to start with there will be 10 axolotls in the pond.

I have also bought a solar air pump so that I can add 2 large sponge filters to the pong to help keep the water clean and aerated.

HERE is a link to it. Hopefully it will be powerful enough to power the filters but if not I have also bought 20m of airline so I can pass the line from a pump inside the house to the filters in the pond.

I have also bought some floating matting to protect the axies from cats and herons and seagulls without making the pond look ugly like netting does.

Once the Juveniles are in the pond I will be able to dismantle the shelves in the lounge and finally have a lounge instead of a petshop :-)
