Axolotls in the new aquarium

I left the aquarium over night and all day today to settle and moved the ornaments and axolotls back into it tonight after work. Typically all the axolotls are huddled together at one end of the 4ft tank leaving 3 feet empty!! typicl! I'm not sure about the blue sands but at least I will be able to find the axolotls and their poops really easily!

Sand in the big aquarium

The sand arrived today so I cleaned the aquarium out and added the sand. It looks like I didn't wash the sand properly as there are loads of floating air bubbles in the surface of the sand and the surface of the water. I have to leave the aquarium to hear up properly as so I will see if the bubbles go by tomorrow night.

Cleaning big tank

I have ordered 4 bags of blue sand from Amazon that will arrive tomorrow. So today I have moved the axies from their tank into a large tub and I am cleaning the tank ready for the sand to arrive tomorrow. Sam, Pinky and the brain. The white cloud mountain minnows that were in the tank with the axies are in a bucket ready to ship to my parents house in an hour or so to go in the aquarium that I took over to them and set up last week. Once the tank is set up tomorrow I will put big boy in with the other 3 to see how they get along. Fingers crossed all goes well so that I don't need to buy another aquarium to seperate them out. Big Boy/ Girl The juveniles are all doing great and are growing really well and the eggs that I received yesterday are all beaning today so hopefully they will all hatch. Eggs starting to bean. Smallest Juveniles Biggest Juveniles Medium Juveniles

Big Boy all better

The daily salt baths seem to have sorted out Big Boy's fungus. Yay! Yesterday I cleaned out big boy's aquarium and I have moved 4 of the juvenile's from the last tub into it so now all the juveniles are in tanks and just big boy is in a tub having daily water changes.  I plan to move big boy into the big aquarium with the 3 bigger axolotls once I have cleared the fish out of it and added sand to the floor.  I hope to get this done on Thursday hopefully so then everyone will be in an aquarium and I will have no need to do daily water changes on the tubs. The bigger axolotls are getting bigger all the time and the juveniles are growing like weeds so all is going well for now.

Big boy is a bit sick

I was feeding my biggest axolotl big boy this afternoon and noticed some white stuff on its gills! Took a closer look and I'm pretty sure that it is fungus 🤦‍♂️ I have given it a salt bath and it is now rubbed again instead of being in its aquarium. I am going to give salt baths twice a day for the next few days and then one a day for the next 3 days after that. Hopefully this will resolve the issue. I am going to clean out its aquarium and set it up and move pinky from the big tank as it is constantly hiding in the big tank so hopefully moving it into its own tank will help. I will then move big boy back into the big aquarium with Sam and The Brain to see how they are all in together. I'm pretty sure that big boy is missing the space in the big tank so hopefully this will stop the fungus coming back.

Lost another one

Lost another one of the juveniles today so I now have 14 left from the eggs that hatched before Xmas. All the other juveniles are eating and growing well and seem to be happy and doing well. The 4 bigger axies are also doing well. I am adding sand to the 4ft tank with the 3 smaller ones in today as they seem to be slipping a lot on the glass floor. And also the tank looks pretty bad without substrate as it is an old tank. I also want to rearrange the decor on the tank as it is a bit cluttered at one end at the moment. My daphnia culture is also coming along nicely now too after moving it to the small aquarium that I have.

Rearranging tanks

Had a re-arrange this afternoon and the large juveniles are now in one of the 2ft tanks as a grow out tank so not so many water changes. They seem happy enough and I am happy as I can now see them properly and watch them grow. I also moved the gravel out of the security Nd smallest tank I have and I am setting it up to put the next biggest juveniles into this tank then I will only have to do daily water changes on the small juveniles as they are not big enough to be in an aquarium yet. This re-arrange also means that I will me able to move the tub with that I use for the small juveniles to the middle shelf so that I can see them better too. I am giving one of the 2ft tanks and some of my minnows to my parents as I no longer need it and they wanted an aquarium again but didn't want axolotls as they are more work than fish. I have to soon think about finding homes for the juveniles as I am not going to have room for all of them as my lounge currently feels like a pet s...

New fish arrived

The blue guppies that I ordered arrived today. I have out them in an empty tank to quarantine for a couple of weeks before they are moved into the big tank with the Betta and the neons. All 4 arrived looking healthy and happy: I have seperated some of the medium juveniles from the bigger juveniles as they were much smaller and don't seem to be developing at the same rate as the others. I wanted to keep them seperate to help them grow and make sure that the bigger axolotls dont start eating the smaller ones.
