I won the tank stand and I am picking it up tomorrow afternoon. It only cost me £5 which is a bargain but it is going to cost me about £30 in petrol plus whatever else it cost me to get it refurbished but its still better than spending £300+ on a stand! The stand need the plastic coating removing and then re-painting and it may also need
I am also going to look at a third aquarium that is the same as the other 2 so I will have 3 identical tanks for the aquariums.
I am going to buy a set of heavy duty shelves tomorrow and have all of the tanks in the bedroom as it has carpet which will withstand the weight of the tanks.
When the rack is sorted I will move 2 of the tanks back into the lounge and use the stand as a low dividing wall between the lounge and dining area which I think will be cool.
I can then get 2 slightly bigger tanks for the shelves in the bedroom as they are 160cm wide so a 5ft tank will work really well on them.
I will also buy 3 mats for the aquariums to sit on so that they don't get stressed on the shelves.
The plan now is to have the big axolotl in its tank on its own for a while and then the 2 new axolotls that arrive next week can go in the other new tanks as a quarantine for a month then get moved into the tank with the big axolotl after that and the third tanks Sam can go in until some of the babies are big enough to go in with Sam.
As I have dual sponge filters in the current aquarium I can speed up the cycling of the new tanks by moving one of the sponges into each of the tanks therefore bringing the healthy bacteria with them so the cycling should only take a couple of weeks :-)
I am also thinking about getting a 6 year old axolotl that I saw online as it needs a new home and it would be cool to have an older axolotl as well. I am thinking of getting a 2 or 3 foot tank for it in my room and keeping it on its own as it has always lived on its own. Maybe when the other axies are bigger they can be put together. I have sent the owner a message to see if the axolotl is still available.
Got home from work and while I was looking for poop in the big tank is saw the other minnow so I quickly scooped it out and put it in the smaller tank with its friend.
I also put the 2 axolotl's that were in the tank back into the tank and also out one of the bigger babies in there too as it was white so can be seen easier.
