The tank heater is working but it is working too well ðŸ˜
The water is consistently at 20 degrees at the moment so will not work with the axolotl's.
I have been thinking about the big tank and I don't think that it is a good idea to put sand in it now as it will make the tank way heavier and I am not sure that the table it is on will like the increased weight and I am definitely sure that I will not like moving the tank plus sand plus some water when I do get the stand after Xmas.
I have decided that for now I am going to put the minnows in the tank and that's it for now so that they can speed up the cycling of the filters while the big axolotl will be ok to go in the tank after Xmas.
We are off to pickup the other tank this afternoon as well but I am going to store this tank until I get the stand then it will be ready once the babies are bigger.
I have checked on the babies in the tank and they are getting bigger and I can see they have food in their bellies so I think they will be happy in the tank with the shrimp. The tank looks really bare without them but I wanted to get rid of the risk of they hurting the babies so it will have to stay bare for now.
We went to the shops and bought a new fake plant and some driftwood and a big rock and took them home and disinfected them with boiling water and then let them cool and put them in the tank.
Unfortunately the wood is floating so I have had to put the rock on top of the wood for now. Also the Indian almond leaves that I bought the other day arrived this morning so I have out one in each tub and a couple in each tank.
I am also moving Link into the big tank today as the Temperature has dropped without the heater so it should be fine. I plan to do 30% water changes daily to make sure the water quality is ok.
As you can see from the size of the tub that Link is floating in the tank is going to be plenty big enough for Link for the rest of it's life. Once Sam is bigger they too will be moved into this tank. I want to teach Sam to eat from a bowl before I move it as at the moment I have to feed Sam with teasers which is not practical in the big tank. Link has been eating out of a bowl for a while so should be OK in the big tank.
Link is now in the big tank and happily exploring.
Watching Link for a bit I think once the tank is on the stand I will definitely add sand to make walking easier as there is a lot of slipping at the moment.
