Bad night

Had a bad night in the tanks last night! Lost 2 shrimp and one of the baby axolotls that were put in yesterday. Haven't see the other 2 today either so I am hoping that they are just hiding.

Also the baby in the egg has died too as the egg has gone cloudy and and the axolotl was not moving any more and it's eyes were dark 😭

I gave it a burial at sea along with the rest of the dead.

I have just done the water changes and feeding and the big babies have grown noticeably again since yesterday! It is amazing how quickly they are growing.

On a more positive note I have found and am bidding on a proper stand for my big tank which I am winning at the moment at £5 and it is near one of the BMX tracks that I need to practice on so I can kill 2 birds with one stone.

It's in pretty bad shape but I am happy to take it to be powder coated and it means that I can get it made to look brand new at the powder coaters that I take my bike frames to. I also want to get the lid done at the same time as my lid is looking very tired too. Still for £25 I can't complain.

There is also another one with a tank that is a little further away but I my bid on it if it is still there after Xmas. I also found somewhere that sells the tanks brand new for £120 so I may just get a brand new tank instead.

After Xmas I also want to get a bigger tank (I can fit a 52cm X 32cm tank comfortably on the rack) for next to my bed so that I can get a few more minnows in the tank and maybe some guppies as well. I will then move George into the bigger tank and I am toying with the idea of a pea puffer fish in George's tank.

So at the moment we have gone from 25 baby's yesterday to maximum 23 but potentially 21 including the 2 bigger ones so getting to a more manageable number 😁

Just found the other 2 babies in the shrimp tank so they are fine 😁 tomorrow I am going to get sand in the 4ft tank and then maybe move the minnows into the tank to make sure that they can't eat the baby axolotls.

I have also just bought an identical 4ft tank that I will pick up tomorrow so when I get the rack I will have 2 4ftx1ftx1.5ft tanks
Which will be enough for half of the babies when they are fully grown anyway 😁

The tanks will also make a great dividing wall between my lounge and dining room which I was planning to do anyway 😁

Also my heater arrived today so I have put it in the aquarium to see how it does. The minimum setting is 20 degrees so we will have to see if it actually gets the tank to that or if it can keep it at around 17 which would be ideal.
